Sebastian Tenorio-Vallejo was born in Cali, Colombia but has lived in the greater Tampa Bay region most of his life. He started his career as a professional musician in 2015 and makes a living playing guitar and singing full time.
What makes you uniquely qualified to discuss financial and artistic freedom for musicians?
I’ve managed to balance both my own and my parents personal finances on just one musician’s salary for the past 5 years
Why is financial literacy among musicians important to you?
There’s a stereotype that’s gone on for decades that musicians or anyone in the arts must be subjugated to the “starving artist” trope. I strongly believe that as a collective, creatives can break away from that with the proper tools and knowledge.
What is one piece of advice you would impart on the audience?
Work ethic always trumps talent.
