Richard DeRosa received a Grammy nomination for Best Instrumental Composition in 2015 for his big band composition “Neil”. He is a tenured full professor and Director of Jazz Composition and Arranging at the University of North Texas.
Mr. DeRosa’s most recent project was Joey Alexander with Strings where he served as conductor and arranger. The concerts premiered at Jazz at Lincoln Center in October 2018.

His interests include creativity, the creative life, and the profession of creativity coaching, which he founded; issues of life purpose and meaning; mental health and critical psychology (also known as critical psychiatry and anti-psychiatry); and parenting in a “mental disorder” age.

Dr. Brian N. Perez is a saxophone and woodwind performer, educator, and composer. Dr. Perez is Director of Jazz Studies and woodwinds at Texas Southern University where his duties include directing the jazz ensembles, teaching jazz curriculum courses, teaching the woodwind studio and coordinating the jazz area. Under Perez’s direction the TSU Jazz Ensembles have performed for the Jazz Education Network National Conference with Kirk Whalum, the Texas Music Educators Association Conference, the HBCU Band Directors Consortium, The Houston Urban League, has hosted the Essentially Ellington Regional Competition and is currently working on releasing an album this year.

Tony Barrette is a professional saxophonist and repair specialist. In addition to co-owning TB Winds, he teaches woodwind instrument repair at the University of North Texas (UNT) to undergraduate and graduate students.
Before moving back to Denton, Tony worked as a saxophone repair specialist at Meridian Winds in East Lansing, Michigan, where he had the opportunity to work for the saxophone studios of Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. Tony was also previously based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Melissa Robinette was born into the circus and spent her early days traveling on the road. Immeidately after high school she left her small town in Northern San Diego with her first union card and sailed around the world performing on cruise ships. In 2002 MelRob came to New York city, booked her first audition and never looked back!
